HEAD TO THE MUSEUM!
Thursday, March 22, 2007 — As further inspiration for all of Millsberry's budding art stars, there's a new exhibit at the Millsberry Museum! Entitled "Movements in Modern Art," it features ten (yes, ten!) new pieces from five significant movements in recent art history. And what a wide range there is!
The art will span two gallery spaces instead of the usual one. After seeing the five pieces in the main room, follow the door to your right to see the rest of the gallery. The door to the left allows you to revisit last month's Black History exhibit. And as extra incentive to check out the new artwork, the museum will award you an exclusive poster on your first visit! This commemorative piece will look great in your home, and remind you of your museum experience.
Keith Umai, the museum's curator and enthusiastic spokesman, adjusted his glasses and folded his arms proudly as he opened the doors to the public. "Thanks to an anonymous donor, the museum has been able to accommodate more art than usual this month, and all of us at the museum are just ecstatic! We were also able to renovate the inside of the museum, and I think it looks wonderful!"
Keith told us about his favorite movement of the twentieth century. "I must say that I was most drawn to Pop Art as a kid because it reminded me of the comics I was reading at the time. And when I studied art in school, I learned a lot more about why it was so extraordinary when it first came out. I love that it really spoke to the culture of the time and remains relevant today."
He even told us about his own artistic ambitions. "I'm pretty busy with work, but in my free time I love to take photos. There are some really great cameras at the Home Entertainment Superstore. Millsberry is very picturesque, as we all know!"
Thank you for all of your hard work, Keith, and for being such a great resource! We hope that Millsberry's citizens will take the time to visit the museum, and continue to create artwork of their own!
