LOOKING BACK AT 2007
By Everett F. Stevens

Thursday, December 27, 2007 — 2007 was a year full of success for the city of Millsberry. Looking at everything that happened and all the achievements of the past year brings back fond memories and great stories. Staff writer Everett F. Stevens was kind enough to track down some of Millsberry's finest to reflect on 2007.

Most recently was the grand opening of Studio T, the T-shirt design lab that lets you create your very own customized T-shirt. Studio T's creator, Loretta Rivers, is still glowing from the success that the design lab has had in Millsberry.

"I always hoped people would like Studio T, but I never knew there would be this kind of response. The amount of people I've seen recently wearing their own customized T-shirts has really thrilled me", said Loretta when asked about the buzz that Studio T has created since it's opening in November.

"I can only begin to imagine where we'll go from here", added Rivers.

Millsberry was also fortunate enough to have another surprise visit by our intergalactic friend Jenneira this past summer. She had such a great experience the first time she came around that when she was passing through our galaxy, she just couldn't help but stop by a second time.

Jenneira was thrilled to see that the people of Millsberry were still wearing clothes that were inspired by her space fashion. We all can't help but wonder if the intergalactic fashion trends will have changed drastically by the next time she pays us a visit.

Jenneira could not be reached for comment, but whatever part of the universe she's in, we're sure she's probably enjoying herself.

This past summer also brought us some great surfing from our friend Kai out at Okalani Island.

Kai heard rumors about an island with amazing surf near Millsberry, so he decided to go check it out. Thanks to his curiosity, the people of Millsberry were able to hit the waves of Okalani Island this past June.

"Whenever I hear about a new surf spot, I always have to go and check it out at least once. This time it definitely paid off. The waves out at Okalani are so heavy. It's great to see so many people from Millsberry out there", commented Kai.

Back in March, Millsberry was able to get in touch with its artistic side thanks to Keith Umai, the curator of the Millsberry Museum. Keith put on a brand new exhibit entitled "Movements in Modern Art", which showcased ten pieces from five different movements in modern art history.

"The exhibit was a great success. It got people talking about art and really helped them appreciate it so much more, which is very important to the artistic community of Millsberry. I think some were even inspired enough to take up painting. I couldn't be more pleased with how everything turned out", said Keith when asked about the exhibit.

This past January, Millsberry was graced with the arrival of Audrey Smythe-Wei, the new Editor-in-Chief of the Millsberry Gazette. Her arrival was also paired with the opening of the brand new Millsberry Gazette Building in Metro Park. Both of these additions have proven to be a very positive change for the Millsberry Gazette.

"The new Gazette Building is a great space for us", said Audrey.

"It really plays a large role in our writing process, and the new building has helped out with Gazette staff functioning as a team. It's been a great home to us far, and I'm sure there will be even more groundbreaking stories in the future."

When asked about her time spent at the Gazette so far, Audrey responded, "This has been a tremendous opportunity for me. I've gotten to cover some amazing stories, and I couldn't be happier about my time here."

2007 was certainly a landmark year for the people of Millsberry. Who knows what will happen in 2008?

One thing is certain: it's sure to be another year to remember.
